Books to Benefit Receives Facelift

Books to Benefit storefrontCustomers at the May 18-21, 2017 book sale are in for a fresh surprise. Books to Benefit received a facelift, thanks to a generous donation from Kathie McCain who provided money to purchase fresh paint and sturdy shelving. Manpower for the project was also donated. YouthBuild McLean County’s Instructor Ryan Dowell worked with his students, mentoring and teaching new skills to build shelving and paint walls. The student efforts represent an important community service component in the YouthBuild program.

Additional community service was provided by individuals like Brett Klatt, who tirelessly scrubbed carpets, rearranged offices and assisted with painting. Volunteers like Michelle Klatt and Mary Schlemmer created art projects to decorate the walls. The result is an updated storefront for the community to support literacy.
