Neighborhood Book Drive Honors Carolyn Staats

Book Drive in memory of Carolyn StaatsWhen neighbor Carolyn Staats passed away in February 2017, the Burcham and Jennings families decided to celebrate her September 22nd birthday in a big way. “Staats was a sweet neighbor who loved our kids and our pets,” shared Tracy Jennings.  “Since she was a retired teacher, we felt hosting a book drive would be a great way to honor her memory!”

On September 22 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., the public is asked to donate new and gently used books at 2816 or 2822 Brighton Lane in Bloomington. Books will be donated to Books to Benefit and a Houston school damaged by Hurricane Harvey in honor of Staats. Cash donations are also welcome. Phone the Jennings family at (309) 826-0356 or the Burcham Family at (309) 663-4948 to learn more.

Staffed completely by volunteers, Books to Benefit keeps operating costs at a minimum and is currently accepting gently used book donations in support of the November 2-5 sale.
